I got some interesting information related to college aged females and their lack of physical activity from this article.http://member.aahperd.org/iejhe/2007
Well, apparently college aged women don't just have to worry about grades and such anymore. They are lacking in the phys-ed department. According to the article, when women enter college from high school, their levels of sedentary-ness go up to 67%.
That could definitely be a reason for our stress. While reading the textbook I came across the message of flushing out toxic hormones. Will our stress really ever go away if we aren’t engaging in some type of daily exercise?
What exactly is sedentary though? There are some people who just sit on the couch and do nothing. But for those of us who lead other lives besides just school, does that mean were lazy slobs? I move through-out the day. I might not make it to the gym, but I don’t just sit and rot.
The article is actually quite interesting and mentions Web-CT. Please tell me that doing our school work online is adding to our stress too! It seems that every way we turn stress is waiting. Physical activity or none were doomed. I first picked that article because I thought it would all be about exercise.
When I thought deeper into it, it just seems to play into the world of multi-tasking most of us were brought up into. We are supposed to do so many things at once that it is hard for people to find time to make it to the gym. Even if that isn’t the case, we feel we have so many things to do that our mind can’t find a free moment for us, so our stress builds up and the gym gets left out.
I heard something on the radio similar. Why does everything have to be about exercise? My doctor tells me the same thing every time I go for new anxiety medicines too. I just don’t want to believe her or something.
